![]() There were other villains too but he was the most interesting, There was also a female villain portrayed by Diane Ladd who is actually Laura Dern's real mother she was playing Lula's mother.Ignored, maligned and hammered out into an ‘Alan Smithee’ extended cut for TV, David Lynch’s outstanding Sci-fi epic arrives on 4K Ultra HD, finally achieving the visual opulence on home video that it had in 70mm prints at the end of 1984. The villain Bobby Peru, brilliantly portrayed by Willem Dafoe, was my favorite character. This is classic Nicolas Cage you will find that he plays pretty much the same guy in his career. I don't want to spoil it if you have not seen it. At first, the references seem to be only within the dialogues but later it actually becomes more than just references. One interesting thing about the movie is that it makes references to the classic movie Wizard of Oz. I think David Lynch has used violence and sex in his later movies with more skillfully and artistically. Personally, I find them a bit gratuitous and in some instances just unnecessary (for example the bit about the roaches). The movie has a lot of violence and sexual situations. ![]() Other than their passion for each other, I am not sure if there is anything interesting about their characters. Sailor (Nicolas Cage) and Lula (Laura Dern) are couple of youngsters who are in love with each other. It is basically an escape story of a young couple. Unlike David Lynch's other movies, Wild at Heart has a very simple plot. There are a lot of extras, interviews, deleted scenes, the making of documentary, etc. HD quality is just ok, there are some parts where little white dots flash, nothing major to distract from the movie but not the best clean copy either. Not David Lynch's best movie but still delivers some thrills.
